Starting from humble beginnings, we recognized the limitations of traditional materials like wood columns—issues such as rot and high maintenance costs. That's why we pioneered the use of fiberglass, a lightweight, weather-resistant alternative that offers unmatched strength and versatility. Yes, many fiberglass columns are structural and load-bearing, with capacities ranging from 8,000 to 20,000 lbs or more, depending on diameter and manufacturer. When choosing the right manufacturer make sure that their columns have been 3rd party tested to meet the current IBC and IRC building codes. As a general note, the load must be evenly distributed across the shaft for optimal performance. Some models are designed only as decorative covers (non-load-bearing) and can be split to wrap existing posts.
